Case-in-Point is a multimedia, interactive and web-capable CD-ROM program that delivers critical learning environments developed around sound principles of problem-based learning theory (PBL). It is designed for second year nursing students. The students interact with a virtual client and clinical environment that allows them to translate complex client care theory into a practical and organized learning experience. Each case study simulates client-nurse interaction wherein the nurse elicits clinical information from the client (recognizing both verbal and behavioral cues) and then defines problems, sets treatment goals, plans interventions and monitors outcomes.

Phase I of this project was funded by a Small Business Innovation Research grant (SBIR) from the National Library of Medicine.
